An Infant to Pre-Kindergarten Program, Nurturing Kindness Curiosity, and Learning
Ages six weeks through five years old, with campuses in Shelburne, Williston, Burlington, and Stowe
At Heartworks Preschools, we are truly engaging in the “Work of the Heart;” our name reflects our commitment to provide a nurturing academic, physical, social and emotional experience for each child at each stage of development. Through themes such as Stories Around the World, Animal and People Homes, and Family and Friends, as well as a STEAM Program in the afternoon, we build on children’s natural curiosity about their world, with programs designed to enrich each child with a passion for learning, faith in the goodness of humanity, a deep connection with the natural world and a strong sense of compassion for all living things. In this warm and welcoming environment children feel safe and confident to gain developmental skills, enabling them to experiment, to ask questions, to develop supportive relationships with teachers and peers and ultimately to open their minds and hearts to the important lessons that will help them become successful learners and good citizens in their community and the world.
The Heartworks Preschool programs provide a nurturing, differentiated learning environment to guide children to explore and express their innate passion for learning. Three of our preschools are NAEYC accredited, and two are working toward accreditation; most have a 5-star rating from the state. Heartworks provides a warm and enriching setting for childhood play and learning. We see each child as a developing, unique individual and we provide a safe, joyful space for each child to grow to his or her best potential.
Experienced and Loving Teachers
Our Heartworks teachers are experienced and kind; most are state-certified with degrees in Elementary or Early Childhood Education. Teachers differentiate instruction to meet the distinctive learning needs of each child and they guide children to recognize their unique potential, while maintaining a compassionate approach. Within small classes, teachers strive to model exemplary character and curiosity, spark each child’s interest in learning and help each child to be successful as she or he navigates the world.
A thoughtful schedule of play time, guided exploration and structured learning time helps teachers meet the unique developmental needs of each age group of children at Heartworks. With an eye toward Kindergarten preparation, we balance a structured academic curriculum with playful exploration and character development. All students enjoy the comfort of a small class, a purposeful, thoughtful rhythm of the day, lots of playtime in the fresh air, exposure to a stimulating and creative curriculum including monthly themes, and an experienced, compassionate, cheerful teacher.
