The Renaissance School Holiday Performance
The Renaissance School in Shelburne hosted its 15th Annual Holiday performance on Wednesday evening at the Shelburne Town Gym. The theme of this year's performance was, "We Celebrate!"

The performance was also a culmination of work over the fall in the children's social studies themes. The kindergarten class focused on the harvest as part of a Farm Life theme, while the first and second graders presented Carnival, part of their theme on Families Around the World. The Native American Pow Wow was the backdrop for the third grade study of Vermont and US History while the fourth, fifth and sixth grade helped us to visit African cultures as part of their theme on Ancient Cultures and Civilization. Songs like: Kuna Karamu, Zum Gali Gali, Let Us Give Thanks and Viva La Compagnie filled the auditorium with joyful music in addition to several dances and dramatic readings.
The performance was striking in its degree of coordination and composition, due to the dedication and tutelage of Kelly Becker and Ellie Tetrick, the school's music and drama teachers. Many murmurs were heard at the end of the night about what a well choreographed and powerful performance the children had put together.
The Renaissance School Holiday Performance of 2008 was a wonderful evening for both children and their parents.
