In October of 2009, the children at Heartworks in Burlington took field trips to the Outdoor Chapel at Rock Point School in Burlington, where a magical time was had by all.

The Rock Point School is located just west of Burlington High School, and enjoys a 150 lakeside acre campus.  It is affiliated with the Episcopal Diocese of Vermont.  Each class travelled in the Heartworks School bus with their teacher and often a few parents and grandparents.

Each class hiked to the Outdoor Chapel, where they explored for some time before settling in for a snack with their teacher and chaperones. After their snack, they hiked some of the extensive scenic trails around the Chapel, and enjoyed the stunning views of Lake Champlain from some of the trails.

After hiking, they returned to the chapel for a “pumpkin hunt,” and enjoyed some free play time before returning to school. The classes departed from school about 8:45 am, and returned to school just before lunch time.  Apart from some unseasonably cold mornings, each class enjoyed lovely fall weather while at Rock Point.
