The Renaissance School Enjoys Storytelling With Rafe Martin
Rafe Martin, renowned master storyteller and author, visited The Renaissance School in Shelburne on October 14, to share just a few of his many wonderful stories with the students and educators at the school. Students were mesmerized by this special guest as he shared a sampling of his stories through the ancient, but timeless, art of storytelling. Rafe is the author of over 20 books, including Foolish Rabbit’s Big Mistake, The Hungry Tigress, and The Rough Face Girl. He has received numerous awards for his body of work, and is the 2008 recipient of the Empire State Award for his significant contribution to the field of children’s and young adult literature.

Following the presentation, Mr. Martin graciously took questions from the students about his own inspirations, and writing processes, as he works to create his stories. His lively and engaging presentation thrilled everyone, inspiring a renewed appreciation for the power of both the written and spoken word.
Rafe’s visit with the school community was highlighted by a wonderful evening of storytelling on Saturday, October 23, at the Shelburne Farms Coach Barn. The audience was treated to an unforgettable night of award winning stories presented in the magical way of this master storyteller. Young and old alike were delighted by Rafe’s ability to bring his books to life, and in the words of one Renaissance School student to Mr. Martin, “Please keep writing great stories!”
