Members of The Princeton Religious Life Council (RLC) visited with the students of The Renaissance School for a day of service and sharing as part of a week-long retreat. The college students presented unique and meaningful perspectives on their own faith journeys through the stories and parables they shared during the morning Peace Meetings in each of the school’s Kindergarten through Middle School classrooms.

Afterwards, The Renaissance School’s Fourth through Seventh Grade students joined the Princeton group as they participated in a series of drama-themed activities under the direction of The Renaissance School’s Dramatic Arts Teacher, Kelly Becker, to further explore identity, personal beliefs, and faith. Following lunch, the Princeton and Renaissance School students enjoyed sledding on the hills surrounding the beautiful Renaissance School campus at Shelburne Farms.  The Princeton students then returned to The Vermont Zen Center in Shelburne where they have been staying for the past week.

The Religious Life Council's mission is to deepen understanding and cultivate respect among all religious faiths, to weave connections between intellectual life and spiritual growth, to widen the conversation on critical moral and ethical issues of the day, and to provide visibility for the strength and diversity of religious life on the Princeton campus. The Renaissance School’s philosophy embraces these same views on diversity and acceptance in all aspects of life. The meeting of the two student groups provided a wonderful opportunity to further the dialogue within our own communities on these very important global themes.
